A Light for the Next Step

Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” These words paint a simple but powerful picture. In ancient times, travelers did not have bright streetlights. They carried small lamps that showed just enough light for the next few steps.

Imagine walking along a dark trail at night. You cannot see the entire road ahead. The light in your hand does not reveal the distant hills, but it keeps you from stumbling over rocks right in front of you. That small circle of light makes a big difference.

God’s Word works in a similar way. It does not always answer every question about the future. Instead, it guides us step by step. When we read Scripture, we gain wisdom for decisions, clarity in confusion, and comfort in fear.

Sometimes we wish for a full map of our lives. We want to know how everything will turn out. But faith often grows in small steps. As we follow the light God gives today, we learn to trust Him with tomorrow.

Psalm 119:105 reminds us that we are never walking in complete darkness. With God’s Word guiding us, we can move forward with confidence, knowing He provides light for each step along the way.
