Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” These words were written during a time of celebration and thanksgiving. They remind us that each new day is not an accident, but a gift from God.
Imagine waking up early to see the sunrise. The sky slowly fills with color, and light pushes away the darkness. No two mornings look exactly the same. In the same way, no two days of our lives are exactly alike. Each one carries its own joys, challenges, and opportunities.
Sometimes we wait for special days to feel thankful—holidays, birthdays, or big successes. But this verse speaks about today, whatever today holds. It invites us to choose joy even in ordinary moments. Joy is not pretending everything is perfect. It is recognizing that God is present in every moment.
There will be days filled with stress or disappointment. Rejoicing does not mean ignoring those feelings. It means trusting that God is still at work. Even difficult days are part of His plan and can shape us in meaningful ways.
Psalm 118:24 encourages us to see today differently. Instead of rushing through it or wishing it away, we can receive it as a gift. With grateful hearts, we can choose to rejoice, knowing the Lord walks with us through every hour.
