Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Deuteronomy 6:4 (NIV)
Deuteronomy 6:4 says, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” This verse is a clear call to listen and pay attention. God wanted His people to remember who He is.
This statement reminds us that there is only one true God. He is not divided or competing with others. God is whole, faithful, and completely trustworthy.
Knowing that God is one helps us stay focused. We are not meant to spread our trust across many things. Instead, our hearts are meant to rest in Him alone.
This verse also calls for a response. To “hear” in the Bible means more than listening with our ears. It means taking God’s truth seriously and living it out each day.
Deuteronomy 6:4 encourages us to center our lives on God. When we remember that He alone is God, we find clarity, peace, and direction for how to live and whom to trust.
