Psalm 34:8 says, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.” These words invite us not just to hear about God, but to experience Him for ourselves.
Imagine someone describing a delicious meal to you. They can talk about the flavor, the warmth, and the spices, but until you take a bite, you do not truly know what it tastes like. In the same way, faith is more than information. It is personal experience.
The psalm encourages us to “taste and see.” This means stepping forward in trust. It may begin with a simple prayer, a quiet moment reading Scripture, or choosing to rely on God in a difficult situation. As we trust Him, we begin to see His goodness in real ways.
Taking refuge in God is like finding shelter during a storm. The wind may still blow, and the rain may still fall, but inside the shelter there is safety and peace. God does not promise a life without trouble, but He promises His presence within it.
Psalm 34:8 reminds us that God’s goodness is not distant. It is meant to be experienced. When we turn to Him and trust Him, we discover for ourselves that He is kind, faithful, and worthy of our confidence.
