Planting Seeds Early

Proverbs 22:6 offers wise guidance: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” These words speak to parents, grandparents, teachers, and anyone who helps shape young lives.

Imagine planting a small tree in your yard. In the early days, it needs steady care—water, sunlight, and protection from strong winds. The direction it grows is gently guided while it is still young and flexible. Over time, its roots grow deep, and it stands firm on its own.

In the same way, children learn by watching and listening. They notice how adults handle stress, treat others, and talk about faith. Lessons taught early often stay with them for years. Small moments—bedtime prayers, kind words, patient correction—become lasting influences.

This verse does not promise a perfect outcome. Each person will make their own choices. Yet it reminds us that early guidance matters. Seeds planted in love and truth have a way of taking root, even if growth seems slow at times.

Proverbs 22:6 encourages us to invest faithfully in the next generation. When we teach with patience and live by example, we help build a foundation that can support a lifetime of faith and wisdom.
