God’s Chosen Child

Then say to Pharaoh, “This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son.” – Exodus 4:22 (NIV)

In Exodus 4:22, God tells Pharaoh, “Israel is my firstborn son.” These words show how deeply God cares for His people. Israel was not just a nation to God; they were His child, loved and valued.

Calling Israel His “firstborn” speaks of a special relationship. The firstborn held a place of honor and care. God was saying that His people mattered to Him in a personal and powerful way.

This verse also shows God as a protective Father. He saw Israel’s suffering in slavery and was ready to act on their behalf. God does not ignore injustice. He steps in to rescue and defend those He calls His own.

Exodus 4:22 reminds us that God’s love is not distant. He is involved in the lives of His people. He hears their cries and moves in history to bring freedom and hope.

Today, this verse encourages us to trust God’s heart. He still cares for His people like a loving Father. When we feel overlooked or forgotten, we can remember that we belong to God, and He is always watching over us.
