Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Jesus spoke these words while teaching about worry, reminding His listeners that God knows their needs.
A man once carried a heavy backpack everywhere he went. It was filled with items he thought he might need “just in case.” One day, a friend asked why he carried so much weight. The man realized he was preparing for problems that had not even happened. Slowly, he began to trust that he could let go of what he didn’t need.
In the same way, we often carry the weight of worry—about money, work, family, or the future. Jesus invites us to shift our focus. Instead of chasing security or stressing over tomorrow, we are called to seek God first. When He becomes our priority, our hearts find the right order.
Seeking God’s kingdom means putting Him at the center of our decisions, time, and desires. It means asking, “What honors God?” before asking, “What benefits me?” Trust grows when we choose Him daily.
Matthew 6:33 reminds us that when God is first, everything else falls into place. We can release our worries, knowing our Father faithfully provides.
