Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” These words were written during a time when trouble and danger surrounded God’s people. Nations were in conflict, and the world felt unstable. Yet in the middle of chaos, this quiet command was given: be still.
Imagine standing in the middle of a loud storm. Wind howls, rain falls hard, and everything feels out of control. Our first instinct is often to panic or rush to fix things ourselves. We try to hold everything together. But this verse invites us to pause instead of panic.
Being still does not mean doing nothing. It means stopping long enough to remember who God is. It means trusting that He is greater than the storm. When we are still, we shift our focus from our fears to His power. We remember that He rules over every nation, every problem, and every detail of our lives.
Stillness can be hard in a busy world. Our days are filled with noise, screens, and constant demands. Yet even a few quiet moments in prayer can calm our hearts. In those moments, we are reminded that we are not alone.
Psalm 46:10 teaches us that peace begins with trust. When we slow down and recognize God’s control, our anxious hearts can rest in His steady hands.
