Jesus speaks powerful words in Matthew 28:19–20. After rising from the dead, He met His disciples on a mountain. There, He gave them what is often called the Great Commission. He told them to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey His commands.
Imagine standing on that mountain. The disciples had followed Jesus for years. They had seen miracles, heard His teaching, and watched Him die and rise again. Now He was sending them out. The task must have felt overwhelming. How could a small group of ordinary people reach the world?
Yet Jesus did not send them alone. He gave them a promise: “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Those words changed everything. The mission was big, but His presence was bigger. Their strength would not come from their own abilities, but from Him.
This command was not only for those first disciples. It continues for believers today. Sharing the message of Jesus can happen in simple ways—through kindness, conversation, prayer, and example. We do not need to travel far to live out His call.
Matthew 28:19–20 reminds us that we are part of something greater than ourselves. Jesus invites us to join His mission and assures us that wherever we go, He goes with us.
