I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor. I will set him over my house and my kingdom forever; his throne will be established forever. – 1 Chronicles 17:13-14 (NIV)
In 1 Chronicles 17:13–14, God makes a promise to David about his family line. God says His love will never be taken away and that the kingdom He establishes will last forever. This promise shows God’s deep faithfulness.
God’s words remind us that His love is steady and secure. People may fail or change, but God’s love does not. He keeps His promises even when circumstances are uncertain.
This promise also points to God’s long-term plan. David would not see everything fulfilled in his lifetime, yet God was still working. God’s plans often unfold over time, beyond what we can see in the moment.
The passage shows that God’s kingdom is built on His commitment, not human strength. What God establishes, He sustains. His purpose does not depend on perfect people, but on His faithful character.
1 Chronicles 17:13–14 encourages us to trust God’s promises. Even when life feels unstable, God’s love remains firm. We can live with hope and confidence, knowing that God is always faithful and His plans will stand forever.
