Kind and Forgiving

Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” This verse calls us to reflect the mercy we have received. Because God has shown us grace, we are invited to extend that same grace to others.

A teacher once noticed two students arguing over something small. Instead of letting anger grow, one of them quietly said, “I’m sorry,” even though both shared blame. That simple act of kindness changed the mood in the room. What could have turned into lasting tension became a moment of peace.

In our own lives, hurt feelings and misunderstandings are common. It is easy to hold onto offenses or replay unkind words in our minds. Yet bitterness only weighs down our hearts.

Paul reminds us that our forgiveness toward others is rooted in Christ’s forgiveness toward us. We have been shown patience, mercy, and compassion beyond what we deserve. Remembering this softens our hearts.

Ephesians 4:32 invites us to choose kindness, even when it feels difficult. When we forgive as we have been forgiven, we reflect God’s love. In doing so, we create space for healing, unity, and deeper relationships.
