Wounded for Us

Isaiah 53:5 says, “He was pierced for our transgressions… and by His wounds we are healed.” These words were written long before Jesus walked the earth, yet they point clearly to His sacrifice.

Imagine someone stepping in front of another person to take a blow meant for them. The one who was guilty walks free, while the innocent one bears the pain. It is an act of love that is hard to fully understand.

Isaiah 53:5 shows us that Jesus did something like this for us. Our wrong choices, selfish actions, and hidden sins created a distance between us and God. Instead of leaving us to face the consequences alone, Jesus took that burden upon Himself.

The verse speaks of wounds that bring healing. That seems like a strange exchange. Yet through His suffering, forgiveness became possible. Through His sacrifice, broken hearts can be restored and guilty consciences can find peace.

This promise reminds us that God’s love is not shallow or distant. It is costly and personal. When we think about Isaiah 53:5, we see how far God was willing to go to bring us back to Him. His wounds tell the story of a love that heals and saves.
