Romans 8:18 says, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” These words offer hope in the middle of hardship.
Imagine a runner training for a long race. His muscles ache, his lungs burn, and some days he wants to quit. The effort feels heavy in the moment. Yet he keeps going because he knows the finish line is ahead.
Life can feel like that training. There are seasons of loss, disappointment, and pain. We may wonder why things are so difficult. In those moments, it is easy to focus only on what hurts right now.
Romans 8:18 lifts our eyes beyond today. It reminds us that suffering is not the final chapter. God promises a future filled with glory, restoration, and joy. The struggles we face now will not last forever.
This does not mean our pain is small or unimportant. It means it is temporary. Like the runner who keeps his eyes on the prize, we hold on to hope. One day, God’s glory will shine brighter than every trial, and we will see that He was faithful through it all.
