Ask, Seek, Knock

Matthew 7:7–8 says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” These words invite us into a relationship of trust and persistence with God.

Imagine a child who needs help tying his shoes. At first, he struggles alone. The knots tighten, and frustration grows. Finally, he looks up and asks his father for help. The father does not ignore him. He kneels down and patiently shows him what to do.

Sometimes we try to handle everything on our own. We carry worries, questions, and decisions without asking God for guidance. We may think our needs are too small or our problems too complicated. Yet Jesus encourages us to ask.

To seek means we look for God’s wisdom in His Word and in prayer. To knock means we keep coming to Him, even when answers seem delayed. These actions show faith. They remind us that God is not distant; He is attentive and caring.

Matthew 7:7–8 assures us that God responds to those who come to Him. He may not always answer in the way we expect, but He always listens. When we ask, seek, and knock, we discover that the door to His presence is open.
